As of the day the excerpt: “The Love Ideal” was written, twenty three months has passed since the initial formation of campaign RN and the living best postulate. Although the initial conviction to seek the ‘living best’ had never wavered throughout, there had been several subtle changes to existing construes on what exactly is the living best is, and how can it be manifested.
On retrospect, the living best was initially a belief that: the true method of living was not a subscription to a particular lifestyle (of materialism, or logical thought), but a full integration and moderation of these contrasting lifestyles. There was an unstated belief that there is an objective lifestyle out there, different from all existing lifestyles yet drawing elements of goodness from all of them, which transcends the former to become the objective lifestyle that would lead to the good life. Yet, as developments drew into identity, meaning and transcendental idealism, it was realized that such a postulate was inadequate to truly live the good life.
What was wrong? Interestingly, there was nothing falsifiable about the initial living best postulate- since the living best postulate as postulated today definitely still encompasses an element of the initial belief. Yet, it was the fact that the living best was not meant to be an objective lifestyle/self-help book, but rather as a general attitude towards life, that had radically changed the orientation of project RN. As we witnessed, all the posts were no longer directed on tangible devices, such as specific things to do at specific situations; but rather general principles based on philosophical, religious, and scientific groundings.
It is both surprising, and not surprising that love became the central focus of the living best. Soon after the address of the transition between personal and social identity, it became definite that no amount of intellectualism, of idealism, materialism or affection can hold more meaning than an act of love could to an individual. Indeed, we state that as humans we diversify via individuality and unite via love. But if we were to take humanity as a whole, and realize both out personal and social identities, then we see (as in the definition of humanity) that a full life has to be one moderate in both. As individuals it is not our role to bring about diversity, since we are already the fundamental unit of diversification, so what’s really left is to unite, commune, or simply just love.
In light of the change in attitude from diversification to union, certain construes towards identity had altered substantially, one of these being the MBTI personality sorter. In earlier phases, it was believed that the objective personality was to be XXXX, that being that one is neither extraverted nor introverted, sensing nor intuitive, thinking nor feeling, judging nor perceiving. But in light of meaning, and certain aspects of the moderation doctrine still held true, individuality may be changed, but nay not necessarily be moderated to homogeneity. What is most important is that in one’s individual respect one actively enacts the love ideal. In this way he has already diversified and united as envisioned in the living best postulate.
So, after six faculties, more than thirty five posts and 170 pages of discussions, and a gradual change in the living best postulate from seeking that perfect lifestyle, to seeking true love, has Project RN met its objectives?
Yes and no.
It is never in my agenda to ever elevate project RN as an alternative source of teaching to religion, science or philosophy, although this is definitely not an action of fiction but conviction. What is discussed in this, and the previous series of discussions will forever remain subjective and speculative. Therefore, in this way project RN has failed to bring about the final objectivity envisioned back in 2008. Nevertheless, it is through this research that has led me to an understanding that nothing should be made objective except love. And that an action is good only because its intention is good. In this respect, if this project is seen as one more avenue of self-conviction towards the love ideal, then project RN can never be falsified, nor seen as inherently untruthful.
Interestingly, this principle applies to any action enacted. As long as its intentions are truly to bring love across, then it cannot ever be false, or meaningless. The danger would then only arise when its intentions are mixed, that is when both selfish and selfless agendas are brought into the equation. By then this would be what we conventionally term as ‘love with strings attached’
Personally, the completion of this series of discussions is something I may call as heartening. Not because I have found the living best to life, but because I finally know that this living best is something not unfamiliar to what we have all experienced before. Although more excerpts can still be written between existing excerpts, justifying current arguments or opening up new topics of discussion, but they should not be contradictory nor unfamiliar.
As for now, I believe that much of project RN(T), as well as project RN (T2) has officially come to an end. I do not believe that I shall be posting new ‘discussions’ on this domain for quite some time, and subsequent commitments made on the RN domain should be dedicated to the manifestation of the living best in proper actions. Proposals to rewrite RN(T) still remain open to speculation. I will leave this to the divine plan, my own plans for the theoretical progression for the living best are far over now.
No, this is not goodbye I guess. Remember, although this project is an address on the conceptual fundamentals required to bring the ‘living best’ to our lives, it is still incomplete in terms of allowing us to be ourselves fully. Now that we have more or less seen through the bulk of these ideas and concepts, it is good time to go forth and seize the day, and bring this living best now love ideal to others around us.
I personally hope you guys do see insight and meaning. Thank you, and do have fun.
